1 Studio, 2 Easter Eggs & 3 Cities - One Long weekend

Thursday 1st April -

My friend Carly (who used to be my producer on Rockworld TV) was getting married today to her comic book editing fella at the Barbican and it was a fabulously retro geek affair.

After being wowed by Carly's Vivien of Holloway dress, scarlet petticoat and matching hair (of course) the vows were said in the conservatory - surrounded by exotic plants, fairy lights and rose petals it was perfect.

Champagne, canopes and catching up with old Rockworld friends like Julia Hardy (now writing and presenting her own show 'Gameface' on Bravo, below) and the lovely Phillipa (who now works for NBC) was brilliant. julia hardy

Once we'd found our table, named after the happy couples' favourite tv shows (mine was 'Counter Terrorist Unit' from 24) we began a three course meal, with handmade cupcakes, and real ale brewed by another guest.

Speeches, more champagne and it was time for the first dance by Elbow - so perfectly Carly and Ned. Unfortunately I had to leave soon after that to catch my train to Stoke (yes to meet my man - it was a long bank holiday weekend after all). I was so full and exhausted by the time I got there it was pretty much straight to bed.

Friday 2nd April -

Slept in, got easter eggs and then went out for lunch and even though it was raining we had a lovely afternoon and the time seemed to disappear. Back at 'home' we watched a movie, ate too much chocolate then contemplated getting ready for the evening.

Still raining we headed to the Rigger and literally stumbled into a rock reunion and some old faces - despite our best intentions for an early night we ended up getting swept along...to be honest it didn't take much persuading.

So, a taxi to the Voodoo Lounge (de ja vu anyone?) only this time it was packed and we had trouble moving for people wanting to catch up. Only once did I have to rescue the boy from the unwanted attentions of an old 'acquaintance'. Some dancing, some beers (alright a good few beers) and some potential drama nicely avoided we decided to head home before the evening slipped into the morning and we got into trouble.

Saturday 3rd April -

Had to be up relatively early today - Uninvited Guest were supposed to be in the studio mixing and finishing the tracks they had recorded last time. We were only a bit late but the lead singer and bassist were already there so they got straight on with work while I went to do some window shopping.

UG

I remember shopping in Stoke from my Uni days and not much had changed, try as I might I only spent £7 on some socks so was back at the studio fairly quickly. Watched some movies, took some photos of the guys, and gals, doing their thing and at the end of the day we left with 3 (almost) finished tracks. I had no idea it took so long to write and produce a song, and that a mixing desk had that many buttons, but UG are perfectionists so...

After a roast dinner we listened to the tracks, again and again, as they went over each detail and I drank beer and thought 'it sounds finished to me!'. Then they gave me a break and put on Tim Minchin (who I am now in love with) and then the beer ran out. So we drank wine. Then I'm not sure what happened, but I was definitely drunk...

Sunday 4th April -

Woke up and wanted to die. Worst hangover for a long time, couldn't even eat breakfast or lift my head up. Blurgh. Managed to pull it together (kind of) for the drive back to Norwich where we listened to the new tracks - they were already stuck in my head and I was getting to know the lyrics better than the man himself.

Back in my hometown we had another roast with the Lady C (who also got to listen to the new songs) then a few beers with another friend before heading back to his for champagne (!?) and homemade heavy metal muffins who also got to listen to the tracks. This provoked a big music share between two of my favourite people and a cab home at 2.30am....

Monday 5th April -

Another well deserved lie in then tapas for lunch and holiday discussions (yay!). A quick beer at the Birdcage and a quick goodbye as he went home :( but my brother was quick to invite me to a pub quiz to distract me from my sorrow.

As it turned out all those christmases playing party games paid off as we stormed through the Charades round (helped a little by our brother/sister telepathy) but still only came second. Some chips and cheese on the way home and to bed. Exhausted.
